BAY AREA CHAMPION SCIENCE FAIR 2025

The Bay Area Champion is organizing an annual grade-level competitive event aimed at fostering creativity and innovation in young minds. This event involves school students and their guiding teachers from various cities. Students will conceptualize ideas, develop science projects, and create innovative prototype models using low-cost materials and local resources. The goal is to provide practical and indigenous technological solutions to society's basic needs or challenges.

Students in grades 3 through 8 are eligible to participate individually or in teams of two, showcasing their models and exhibits. Attractive prizes and scholarships will be awarded to the winning projects and models.

Theme and Sub-theme Guidelines:
  • Main Theme: SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY FOR A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE
  • Sub-themes:
    1. Food, Health, and Hygiene
    2. Transport and Communication
    3. Natural Farming
    4. Disaster Management
    5. Mathematical Modeling and Computational Thinking
    6. Waste Management
    7. Resource Management

Note: These sub-themes are suggestive. Students may choose other sub-themes related to Science and Technology for a Sustainable Future.

STEM Challenge Outline:
  1. Create a science project based on your personal passion to solve a real-world problem.
  2. Submit a 2-minute video and a 250-word abstract on your project by August 6th, 2025, at 11:59 pm PT.
  3. Bring a display board for in-person interviews and judging on August 24, 2025.
Important Notes:
  • Students can participate individually or in teams of 1 to 4 students. Each participant must complete individual registration.
  • An adult volunteer or judge must be registered for the team to participate. Students/teams cannot participate without an accompanying adult.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) - Science Challenge 2025

Students in Grades 3 to 8 for the academic year 2024-2025 are eligible for the STEM Challenge.

The goal is to spark student interest in Science, using STEM to solve real-world problems. This also provides early exposure for participation in regional and national science fairs in middle and high school.

August 24, 2025. Room details will be shared closer to the event.

  • Students can participate individually or in teams of 1 to 4.
  • A 2-minute video about the project must be submitted by August 1st for judging and scoring.
  • Participants will also be judged on their trifold board presentation and interviews on the event day.

  • Video Submission: 50 points
  • Display Board and Interviews: 50 points

You can participate individually. However, certain awards are exclusive to team participants.

Registration closes on August 1, 2025, or earlier if the event reaches full capacity. Early registration is recommended to secure your spot.

Registered students will receive a Google form to indicate their team members. All team members must first register individually.

Registered students will receive a Google form to update the details of adult leaders (judges and volunteers) for their team.

You will need to submit the YouTube link to your video (unlisted) via the Google Form provided to you by July 24th. The final deadline for video submission is August 6th.

Science Projects:

  • PROJECT TITLE
  • PROJECT ID (to be emailed after video submission, top right corner of the display board)
  • INTRODUCTION (research question, purpose, hypothesis)
  • METHODS (detailed methodology and procedures)
  • RESULTS (outcomes of the project)
  • DISCUSSION (interpretation of results)
  • CONCLUSIONS (final thoughts)
  • REFERENCES/ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

Awards are given separately for Elementary and Middle School participants.

Note: If any elementary team includes a middle school student, the team will be categorized under Middle School.
